PRESENTS THE NEW COMMUNITY PROJECT

A Place Dedicated to Classic Cars and the Community

Classic Automobile Restoration & Education Society

What Is C.A.R.E.S.?

The Classic Automobile Restoration and Education Society, or C.A.R.E.S., received its official nonprofit designation in April of 2021, and is the “umbrella” organization behind the envisioned Flagstaff Automobile Museum, as well as the 501c3 nonprofit organization behind several already-envisioned Classic Car Restoration and Education projects.

Classic Automobile Restoration

The Classic Automobile Restoration and Education Society’s envisioned garage programs are a very much needed community resource and support in just about every town in America. Thousands of old classic vehicles are sitting in garages today, their owners needing help to keep these important cultural and historic pieces of mechanical and artistic ingenuity in good condition. Many of them don’t even currently have engines that will start up, let alone an up-to-date paint job. Imagine these thousands of cars, taken out of the dust and the rust, and restored to their former glory, and then brought out to showcase in their communities for everyone to admire and appreciate. The Classic Cars of America will get to be enjoyed, visited and understood by a new world of enthusiasts young and old. This is the vision and work of C.A.R.E.S!

Classic Automobile Education

Giving a new generation the opportunity to learn Classic Car Restoration and mechanics is truly an essential social mobility and career advancement assistance program brought to life. For this reason, it’s important to C.A.R.E.S. that, through our envisioned Garage Projects, the programs we support don’t just put classic cars on displays and into exhibits: rather, the work of restoring and caring for these beautiful vehicles is just as important as the end result. Through making the mechanics and restoration processes come alive, exhibiting and showcasing the vehicles, and eventually even finding ways to give more people the opportunity to drive and ride in the restored cars, C.A.R.E.S aspires to create a living classic car culture, actively engaging the community in a more immersive and accessible classic car experience that whole communities can share and enjoy.Classic Car technicians, craftspeople, tradesmen and mechanics are now sought-after, well-compensated and highly skilled members of the 21st century workforce, and the next generation of classic car mechanics, body shop workers and skilled tradesmen and women will have the security of being trained in an in-demand skill.

Community Connections

Bringing our communities together has never been more important than it is today, and too many of us lost friends and family over the past year. Right along with losing dear members of our communities, we too often also lose the stories and history connected to our loved ones’ classic cars. With a little dedication and attention, our communities can care-take our heritage of classic cars. C.A.R.E.S. has been created to steward this historically and culturally important work. The Flagstaff Automobile Museum is one of many upcoming initiatives and projects that C.A.R.E.S. will facilitate as a 501c3 not for profit organization.

Help C.A.R.E.S. to begin this important work today by making a donation, and thank you for your interest and support!

About

The Flagstaff Auto Museum is the brainchild of local classic car photographer and musician John Lutz, who has been inspired to share and preserve classic automotive Route 66 culture as a living history of mechanics and art in motion.

The museum is a project of Lutz’s non-profit organization, C.A.R.E.S. – the Classic Automobile Restoration and Education Society.

The museum will house a classic car restoration garage which will provide cosmetic and mechanical restoration work to exciting classic cars, and will also provide apprenticeships, scholarships, classes, and educational programs to local youth.  Our main goal is educating and training the next generation of classic car tradesmen and craftspeople, and to be a part of the growth of the local car community in Flagstaff.

Classic Car technicians, craftspeople, tradesmen and mechanics are now sought- after, well-compensated and highly skilled members of the 21st century workforce, and the next generation of classic car mechanics, body shop workers and skilled tradesmen and women will have the security of being trained in an in-demand skill. The Flagstaff Automobile Museum’s fledgling garage programs are truly the essential social mobility and career advancement assistance program brought to life.

The programs at the museum and garage also serve as an inter-generational bridge, bringing more senior expert mechanics and skilled tradesmen together with today’s youth and elderly populations to rescue, restore, preserve and enjoy our shared heritage of classic automobile treasures for generations to come.

The Flagstaff Automobile Museum, the garage project, and the C.A.R.E.S. organization are actively seeking corporate sponsors, private members, and volunteers to help make these projects a reality in 2021 and beyond.
