We need your help to get Route 66’s largest collection of restored, fully operational, classic and vintage automobiles ready for the public, and for the road!
Fast, powerful, and stylish, classic & vintage automobiles from the Route 66 era and beyond were a perfect automotive expression of the human spirit of adventure, and a quest for mechanical ingenuity and timeless beauty. Today, just a small fraction of our vast legacy of classic automobiles is restored and road-worthy. Countless vehicles sit collecting rust and dust, without a path to restoration, unappreciated and nearly forgotten in garages and driveways scattered throughout the United States and beyond.
The crowning achievement of the Flagstaff Automobile Museum will be an envisioned record-breaking restoration project where owners throughout this region will finally be given the support and the solution to put these once-loved vehicles back in front of the world, restored to their former glory through the museum’s garage project, which will have the goal of transforming these classic icons of Route 66 era culture to roadworthy rides. Guests and visitors will even be able to take some of the newly restored vehicles out on the beautiful and scenic roads and highways of Northern Arizona! They will have the thrill-of-a-lifetime opportunity to ride in style, reliving the rush of wind, the unforgettable roar of the classic era engines and the adrenaline that made these cars’ original owners fall in love with them in the first place.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FINISH THE JOB!
Just one thing remains to make this decades-long vision come true and help our volunteers surmount this final hurdle: the funds to return these sleeping icons to the roads, and launch the Flagstaff Automobile Museum and Garage Project.
After we reach our goal, we look forward to inviting all donated classic cars’ owners and their families to join us for a ride in the cars they have cherished for decades…an opportunity which, given the advancing age of many of our classic car owners today , is a narrow one indeed.
Sadly, the day is not far off when firsthand contact with these beautiful vehicles’ original owners will be lost to us forever. But by preserving significant artifacts such as the classic automobiles they loved—creating crucial context for the scholarship, personal profiles, and oral histories for the vehicles in the museum’s envisioned collection—The Flagstaff Automobile Museum is building the framework for tomorrow’s generations to connect with their spirit and passions for years to come.
